Your Chinquapin Community
The Chinquapin Community Corporation is a neighborhood with a charter of Bylaws filed with South Carolina’s Secretary of State and Covenants and Restrictions recorded with the Greenwood County Clerk of Court pertaining to each Phase. The Association is run by a board of directors, elected annual by the residents, which is responsible for managing our community. Residents are encouraged to be involved in the process by attending annually scheduled meetings (usually each January) to keep informed and to vote for changes that could affect them. Each household is entitled to one vote. Elections to fill vacant board positions are held annually. A notice will be sent to all homeowners informing them of an upcoming meeting with an election.

Our Board consists of ten (10) resident volunteers elected to serve three (3) year staggered terms and address the needs and desires of the neighborhood as a whole. Chinquapin is a non-profit corporation organized with the SC Secretary of State and is also a special tax district with the county of Greenwood, which oversees our finances with the assistance of three (3) elected tax commissioners. Tax Commissioners are neighborhood residents who also serve voluntarily.

With the first homes constructed in the late 1950’s, Chinquapin is a well-established and beloved neighborhood on the West side of Greenwood County. Homes vastly range in both size and style, creating an appealing neighborhood for young and older residents. Our private pond is an attractive feature for fishing, kayaking, and non-motorized vessels for our residents and their guests to enjoy.
A large covered pavilion with picnic tables, overhead lighting and ceiling fans is yet another amenity that is free for use by residents for various purposes such as community picnics, parties and meetings.
